The Middle East is an area where vehicle is king and fuel is cheap, often leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly ways of walking around.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have pushed up the rate of oil, the issue of finding alternative sources of fuel has actually entered into sharp focus.

In an area that has among the highest carbon footprints in the world, one organization is benefiting from the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first scheme to oil into biodiesel. It's showing rewarding too, currently their client-list contains McDonald's.
